Any school leader who has been tasked with correcting misinformation understands the power of perceptions in a learning community. Schools are in a constant battle of reality vs. perception and the best way to combat this is to have a clear sense of what is true about your community and to communicate it frequently and clearly.

We follow those who lead, not for them, but for ourselves. And it’s those who start with “why” that have the ability to inspire those around them or find others who inspire them.

inflexion approach: identity

Learning communities that effectively prepare all students for life after high school have this clear sense of who they are. Their shared vision, values, and beliefs are the foundation of all they do and inform the decisions they make. Developing a clear strategy for casting your vision to your stakeholders is critical to student readiness.

Once a school has a simple and clear vision of how to prepare its students for life after high school, how do the leaders motivate others to invest in this vision? How do they turn a theoretical vision into action? Our Awareness Campaigns give schools a comprehensive and customized strategy to reach the target audiences in the community who can move the dial on building a strong identity around the school vision.

Branding isn’t just a logo– it’s a message, or more accurately, a promise to the community. As we prepare students to navigate the complex pathways of the future, it is important for schools and districts to have a clear sense of who they are, what matters most, and to be able to clearly communicate that to their community. Our partnership consultants work with educational leaders to develop an identity that motivates the school community to invest in its vision of student readiness.

In order for a school community to embrace a vision of student readiness, it should be actively involved in shaping that vision. We design Engagement Sessions for students, staff, families, alumni, and community members to give stakeholders an opportunity to collectively generate and articulate the values, beliefs, and priorities that matter to them. We also use these engagement sessions to dig deeper with students or families who have been historically underserved or excluded to ensure their voices are not lost and that they see themselves in the school’s identity.

In order to bring a school identity to life, school communities need a clear understanding of how it applies to them personally. Our “Story Campaigns” capture the message in a personal way and broadcast it out into the community to help them get a clear picture of how they are a part of the school’s vision in action.

School leadership teams often have a general idea of the outcomes they want for their school community, but they’re not always sure how to clearly get that message across in a way that is easy to articulate. We work with leadership teams to help them refine their vision and understand the importance of message clarity.
